June 1888

June 1st Well this was the first day of summer, but it has not felt much like it to me May and I went over to town this morning and took the butter and Pen and I went up to Mr. Jeffersons this afternoon I think I have put? in this week but I will have to stay home awhile now I went this week because it suited Penn to go with me Auntie went home sick today

June 2nd This has been another cool day. I staid home today.

3rd This has been another cool day Mr. and Mrs. Astors and Johnny were here for dinner Mr. and Mrs. Wallace were also here

4th I have worked hard all day it has been a nice day for washing

5th I have tried to sew today

6th This has been a very nice day Tommy came here last night we went down to Captain Riggers to attend the night society Willy (Willis?) Rolf was there also May N and Connie Trump

7th May and Connie came this afternoon to stay until tomorrow Mr. Townshend came here from school He stay all night

8th I went to Chestertown early this morning to take my butter

9th I went up to church Hill this afternoon

10th We met at the schoolhouse to have Sunday school today We are getting the church painted

12th We washed today May and Cassie came to stay a few days

16th The girls went up to Round Top this morning I am not very well but I went on to church this afternoon to help trim for children's day

17th This has been a nice day we all went to church excepting Miss M and Kate It was children's day and the church was full, we had nice music but I have been poorly this afternoon and had one of my strange feelings

18th We washed today but I didn't help any for I have not been well all day but feel better tonight I think this has been the warmest day that we have had this summer

20th I had said news today Mrs. Crossly and Mrs. Lizzie Catlin are dead It is sad for their friends But for them I trust it is happiness forever more

21st This has been a warm day Pen and meg went to Mrs. Crossly funeral. Mr. Arters spoke very nice John Casden was buried yesterday He professed conversing before he died and I trust he is now happy

22nd This has been a warm day Cassie and May were here today but went home since supper

23rd Another very warm day but very pleasant tonight Pen is most done cutting wheat, we went to Church Hill after supper I enjoyed the ride, I went to town early this morning to take my butter went before I ate any breakfast, my butter was nice and firm when I got there and I had a nice ride

25th Went to church this morning Mr. Barton talked to us, it has been very warm all day

25th Miss Molly was taken sick last night has been in bed all day but is better tonight We are done cutting wheat

26th Pen and me went to see Mr. Crosley this evening I am sorry for him he says he is lonesome

27th Miss Molly left us to day I know I shall Miss her but I guess the children are glad that school is over for awhile because it is so warm

28th It began raining last night and has rained most all day it has been cool this evening we have had a fire

29th I wrote to [Rinsey Follower?] and Aunt Rachel this has been another cool day and raining part of the time

30th The Union School had a picnic today up in Browns Woods we had a nice time had all the ice cream and cake we wanted
