February 1888

Feb 1st Pen I went to Mrs Caitlin's for tea Mrs and Mr. Jefferson were there Mr. and Mrs. Artors were there We spent a very pleasant time wenr from there to Mrs. Crossley’s to the night society we had a nice time

2nd Mrs. Cattlin and Miss Taylor came here today to spend the day Suzy Welch, Ethel Richards and Helen Kendall came to stay all night and they had company tonight

3rd I went to Chestertown today with my butter Called on Eddie he is well I was glad to see him it has been a very nice day

4th This has been a rainy day Miss Molly and I did not go to Church Hill I received a letter from Kenzie today Tommy and Johnny came to see us tonight They did not stay long Tommy came from Wilmington yesterday

8th This has been another rainy day it cleared off about night

9th It has been cloudy part of the time today

10th It snowed last night and most of today

11 Feb 1888

This has been another stormy day snowed and rained, but I went over to Chestertown to take my butter and get Eddie. I received a letter from Salem today. Pen received a letter from New Castle stating his Auntie Vining was dead. Now he has no near relations but cousins excepting our own family.

12th We went to church this morning Mr. M Wallace came home with us It began snowing before we left church snowed all day is still snowing All have gone to bed but me I am waiting for Eddie He and Mr. Wallace went to see some girls they will be here before they go to Chestertown Eddie will come to leave his horse and then go over with Mr. Wallace

13th The ground was covered with snow this morning and I have had a grand time all day Went to Lizzie’s in the morning down to Jimmie Tuckers in the afternoon and up to Mr. Jeffersons at night So I have had one good day sleighing but don't know when I will have another as the snow does not last long

14th This has been a very pleasant day and there is plenty of mud no snow to go sleighing now so I am glad that I went yesterday but I have not stopped going I went to Mr. Registers tonight to an entertainment Had a splendid time

15th I went up to see Becky today took Jimmy had a nice time The roads are very muddy and it is getting colder

16th I have stayed home today but had company Mrs Register and then Miss Chambers called on us this evening one of them is a mute but she seems very pleasant

17th I went to Chestertown to take my butter Went to see Eddie He seemed well I called him up as it was time for him to get his supper and go to work

18th I had one of my poorly spells today I went to Church Hill this afternoon

19th I felt better this morning and went to church

20th It was raining this morning and we did not get to do the washing

21st We washed this morning and I went to Chestertown this afternoon to take Miss Molly to see the Doctor I have not been to see him for some time but I was not very well and he gave me some medicine

22nd There was no school today Miss Molly went away two girls came to see Annie we all stayed home we expected to go to Beckies but the roads were too muddy

23rd This is been a very pretty day looks like spring

24th I was working right steady this morning and about dinner time was take with one of my sick spells

25th I had the headache in the night did not get up this morning when the rest did have had several of my spells today and other sickness

26th As I was not well I did not go to church

27th We washed today

29th Well this is the last day of the winter I have not been very well for several days
