August 1888

Aug 1st Mrs. M, Pen and myself went to Mrs. Kibbler's for the night society had a nice time

2nd May came today and took Mrs. M to their house to stay a few days

3rd I went to Chestertown this morning took Anne and Clement it has been warm today

4th This has been a very warm day I worked all morning and went to Church Hill with Pen this afternoon

5th Aug Eddie started early this morning to go to Why Camp Meeting has not returned yet Mrs. Taylor and children spent the day with us She expected to go home this evening but we had a thunder gust and she concluded to stay all night I did not go to church This is been a very warm day I have felt the heat more than any day this summer

6th We washed today and it has been very warm Mrs Taylor went home early this morning we have been picking Peaches Had 5 extra men today

7th This has not been another warm day

8th It has been warm but had a nice breeze today Had a gust just before sundown Men had to stop work we had 9 extra hands today I find it takes some cooking

Aug 9th I went up to Beckies this morning and bring she and Julie home with me to stay a few days I am not very well It has been warm all day

10th Becky and I went to town this morning and out to Lizzie's this afternoon I got a bottle of Doctor Kleins [Nisve?] Restorer and have began to take it I hope it will do me good

11th Pen took Beckie home today I did not get to Church Hill today went down to Rolphs Wharf after supper

12th Went to church this morning Had no preaching had Sunday school and class I went up to church Hill this afternoon They have had their church repraised had preaching morning and afternoon and are to have it tonight

13th Very warm today I am tired

14th It has been cool to day I went down to Rolphs Wharf after supper and when I came back Finsey was here

15th Pap Will and Joe came tonight on the road I was glad to see them they all look well

16th This has been a warm day Eddie took the folks up to Beckie's after supper they will stay there a few days

17th I took Finsey out to Lizzie s this afternoon She is to get home tomorrow Mrs. Meredith is there she is sick abed

18th I had one of my 6 spells this morning while I was making bread Lena went to Church Hill with her Pa this afternoon

19th It was raining when we got up this morning but Penn, Eddie Annie and myself went to church There was three besides ourselves We had no service I was sorry for Mr. Walton

It has been much cooler today we had a fire in the room this morning and Pap sat right close to it for awhile

24th It was cool early this morning and we had to use the fireplace again Pap left us this morning to go home I will miss him Always hate to part with him Will and Joe went home with Lizzie last evening they also started for Baltimore this morning Mrs. Meredith and me went down to Jimmy Tuckers and stayed all day

25th This has been a very pleasant day I made my grape Jelly I suppose Pap is home now

26th This has been another nice day We went to church but had no preaching as Mr. Asters is sick We were very much disappointed as we have had no preaching for four Sundays I hope he will soon be well

27th We washed today The clothes got dry but it rained this afternoon

29th This has been a nice day I began drying peaches this afternoon Miss M. went home this morning I will miss her very much I sent a letter to Aunt Rachel and Tommy N. today

30th I have worked hard all day I am tired they are still busy with peaches

31st It has been cloudy part of the time today I have worked hard all day and I am tired
