April 1888

April 1st All of the children went to church this morning Pen stayed home with me Doctor came this afternoon he says I am better I hope he will not have to come anymore but he wants me to go see him Mrs. Polts came over to see me tonight

2nd I am up and rest today and feel better miss Molly came home this afternoon

April 3rd This has been a very pretty day I went out in the yard and walked about I feel better

4th This is the night that our night society meets but I did not go Eddie went I paid and Mrs. Pierson to day for lean as first quarter in music lessons I want to take another one, she is of going to try to teach Annie

5th We had a thunderstorm today

6th This has been a very warm day it was so warm that I let the fire go out

7th This has been another very pretty day but not so warm as yesterday Miss Mollie and myself went to Chestertown this morning called on Doctor Cooper I went to Church Hill with Pen in the afternoon I feel better than I have been feeling

8th We have another pretty day I went to church They organized the Sunday school I am to be teacher of the infant class Mr. Artor’s and Laura Tucker came home with us this Annie Thurlock came in the afternoon

9th We washed today and had a nice day for it

10th It was raining when we got up this morning and it has rained all day H Tucker came after Laura

11th This has been a pretty day I have been busy all day sewing

12th We had a shower today and it blew right hard for awhile and got cooler

13th It has been much cooler today There was some ice this morning Mrs Polts and myself went over to Mr. Welsh’s this afternoon Lena went home with Dora Austin this evening Is to stay until Monday

14th Miss Molly and I went to church Hill with pen she stayed up there

15th This is my birthday God grant that I may live better the coming year than I ever did before I received several presents Mrs. Garthorp gave me a handkerchief Pen a new dress Eddie a silver thimble Annie a milk pitcher

16th This has been a cloudy day we did not wash

17th We watched today and it has been a pretty day

18th Miss Molly and I called on Mrs. R Catlin this evening Spent a very pleasant time Lena was poorly today

19th I have been cleaning Eddie's room today but haven't been very well Charlie and Clement are not well

April 20th Cool and cloudy today Mr. Hurlock and Miss Annie spent the afternoon and part of the evening with us Miss Molly went home with them

21st Cool and cloudy all day some ice and frost this morning Pen and I went To Mr. Story's funeral and this afternoon Went to Church Hill Took supper at the W Hurlocks

22nd Another cool and cloudy day we went to church and Sunday school this morning Mr. Arters preached and we had a nice class meeting It is raining tonight

23rd It rained most all morning the sun shone awhile but it clouded up again before night

24th Cool today part of the time cloudy Frost last night We washed Got the clothes dry I am not very well tonight

April 25th There was ice and Frost this morning but it has been a very pretty day not very cold tonight the children and myself are poorly Have bad colds Doctor Cooper came to see us Pen is done planting corn

26th Frost this morning but it has been a very pleasant day Seems warmer tonight Set 3 turkeys this evenings

27th This has been a pleasant day Much warmer than it has been I wrote to mother and Honsey today

28th As this is Saturday I went to Church Hill (of course) it has been very warm all day I got my large straw hat and had the pleasure of wearing it Miss Jennie came home with us

29th This has been a very warm day I went to church Mr. Barton talked some for us Miss Molly took Miss Jennie home this afternoon

April 30th we washed today I did not help had one of my poorly spells It has been warm all day
