October 1887

1st  This has been a warm day quite different from last saturday as it was very cool  it has been cloudy and part of the time raining for several days, Miss Mollie came today

2nd  I went to Church today  had prayer meeting  there was not many out

7th  Well this has been a busy week  I have been making boys clothes  Hattie white washed for me today  I went to Chestertown this morning but I came right back

8th  Miss Mollie and I went to Church Hill with Pen this afternoon

9th  I was poorly today and did not go to Church  Mr and Mrs Asters and son came home with Pen  took dinner with us

10th  I went to see Dr Cooper this morning  got medicine for myself, Lena and Simmie  he has been having chills  Hattie and Emily washed

11th  It has been very warm for several days but is cooler tonight  it rained a little today  Simmie had another chill, Miss Mollie said that Clement had one today in school, I will keep him home tomorrow

12th  Simmie is still poorly  I kept Clement home today but he had no chill

13th  Our extra meeting has began  Pen went   took Lena and Jimmie tonight

14th  My woman is sick and had to go home today  I have had a time this year about women  I expect one on Monday, Jimmie took Miss Mollie and me to church tonight. I feel better but Simmie is still poorly

15th  Miss Mollie and I went to Church Hill with Pen  she staid, Simmie was not so sick today  this has been a nice day but it is cool tonight  I rec'd  letter from Aunt Rachel today  Pen is done husking corn

16th  We had a heavy frost last night, and some ice was formed, but it has been very pleasant today, Pen Lena Jimmie and Eddie have gone to Church, Miss Mollie and I staid home with the little one  I went this morning

17th  I went to church tonight  Mr Asters talked very nice Mrs J [Hendsip] was the only one that was down at the Alter  she was converted, God grant that she may be the cause of her Husband being converted

18th  it has been cloudy and part of the time raining today  I went to Church tonight  there was only a few there for it was so dark, it rained before we got home

19th  I went up to Beckie's this afternoon and took Simmie. I was home in time for supper  there is no service at  Church tonight  Mr Asters has gone away

20th  This has been a very rainy day  we had no service tonight

21st  I went to Chestertown to take my butter and spent the day with Lizzie  I spent a very pleasant day  was home before supper time

22nd  Miss Mollie Pen and myself went to Church Hill this afternoon, hardly felt that I had time to go but they wanted me to go, I am tired as I have been working ever since I came home, Mr J [Levesdon] came here today  he and Eddie have going to Town  I expect company tonight

I just finished my old diary tonight; Mr. J. L. Reardon(?) came in the afternoon, he and Eddie went over the Chestertown after supper and brought May and …..…....... they are to spend Sunday with us  it is now time to go to bed, the girls are laughing and having a good time, I hope they will enjoy themselves

October 23rd The girls went to church this morning Joe took Miss Annie and Eddie took Miss Emma and May Penn took the children and me Mr. Aster preached a nice sermon Miss Annie played On the Oregon I think she plays nice In the afternoon Mr. Miller and Mr. Cane stayed  for supper Took the girls to church And from there to Chestertown May came back stayed all night Eddie took Emma home 

24th Eddie took may home This morning we washed

29th I have neglected writing in my diary We have had cloudy week for our meeting this has not been a very good attendance Mr. Astor has done his part there has been three converts Mrs. G Kindship Mrs. D Wordal and a girl living with her Mary Redmond 

30th There was no service tonight as Mr. Arters could not be there
