1st this had been a beautiful day I went to Church today it was not preaching sunday and there were few there Jimmie Tucker read both prayer meeting and class I think he is a good man and trying to do right Mr. Jefferson was not there
2nd We washed today it was cloudy early this morning but cleared off nice
3rd Jimmie has been poorly all day, I went to see the Dr. and got some medicine for him, I brought May home with me, Lizzie received a letter for Salem, Cousin John has been dead about three weeks, he died very happy, trusting in his Saviour, he said he was a child of a King and was going where there was no night
May 4th this has been a very warm day I have worked all day and I am sleepy
5th Eddie and May have gone to Chestertown tonight. I have been over to see Mrs. Toller she has a little girl baby it was born yesterday it has been cooler today than it was yesterday
6th I have been busy all day I am sleepy and tired
7th I went to Chestertown this evening with may. The roads are muddy it has rained several times today Jimmie came home with us
8th This is the Sabbath, I went to Church this morning. Mr. Arters preached took his text 1st Peter Chapt 5 V 7th Casting all your care upon him for he careth for you, he preached a splendid sermon it rained before we left church, rained some this afternoon and is raining fast tonight
9th Well this has been another cloudy and part of the time rainy day, Hatie came and was here for me we got part of the clothes dry
10th I am getting ready to go up among the hill and to see my [Father] I feel like I want to see them all, Hattie ironed my clothes and some of the fine ones, but the others did not all get done I went up to see Beckie this afternoon, I wanted to see her before I left
11th Well I am on my way to Baltimore, it was very cloudy when we started but the sun came out and I thought we were going to have it clear but it was very foggy and the boat had to stop and let off steam, and that is not very pleasant to hear, they have started again but are going slowly, and blowing often. I hope we will get to Baltimore on time. I want to start for Harford Co. tomorrow, I feel like I want to see them all so bad
At night) I got here safe went up to N. Gay St and Will had just moved yesterday I had to take the cars (street cars?) and come right back to Light St. I found the place with little trouble, Joe went out with me to get a bonnet so went right right back to Gay St I got it and came back found Sammie Trump here, I guess all my family are in bed I would love to see tham all good night
12th I left Balt on the 8 oclock train arrived safe at Pylesville but Seth L was not there to meet me I suppose he had not received my letter I walked up to C Kinsey Mr. and Mrs. Kinsey were away but I found Will's wife very pleasant and have spent a nice time here At Night) I am at Uncle Elam tonight. Will R. brought me I tell you I was very glad to see them all and they said that the were all glad to to see me it seems like old times,
13th I left Uncle Elam's this afternoon went to see Mollie Stewart found them well and took them by surprise I staid untill after supper, then we came over to Aunt Margret Quigley's she did not know me for a while, it seemed like old times to be here I want to stay untill tomorrow evening, I am having a nice time but would love to see all my family
14th Well this is saturday night I have got back to Uncle Elam's I left Aunt Margret tonight she looks feble, Will brought me over, I would love to see all of my little ones and Pen tonight this has been a cool day I have been sitting by the stove and have not been warm today
15th I went to church at Slate Ridge today Mr. Smith preached good sermon his text was [Hew] 2nd 10 V Mr Steward took me and in the afternoon we went down to the old house where Aunt Beckie Quigley used to live, it reminded me of old times, Mr and Mrs Steward are very kind and done all they could to make me enjoy myself and Seth L came for me and brought me to Uncle Elam's tonight I have been having a nice time all my friend are so kind, they try to make it pleasant for me. I would like to see all my family tonight.
16th This has been a very pleasant day. I was at Uncle Elam's this morning they washed, I wanted to wash my clothes but they would not let me Seth L's wife took them and done it for me I think she is a very pleasant woman, I am at Beckie [Dampman's] tonight Mrs Stewards daughter brought me over. Aunt Mary Ann came over with me, we spent a pleasant afternoon, I went down to see Priscilla and to see Mr. J Anderson after supper, I had a walk over some of the hills it is quite a sight to see the rocks and hills
17th I left [Dampman's] today Beckie brought me to Beckie Kingey's she and her daughter spent the afternoon Aunt Sarah K was there we spent a very pleasant afternoon and evening. Aunt Mary A Kinsey came up after supper and staid until most bedtime Aunt Sarah came down with us I am at Uncle Elams' tonight
18th Well I spent the morning at Uncle Elam's, after dinner we went down to Delta, called on Mr. B Day he is very poorly she looks thin, met Mr. Smith there spent a pleasant time and got home in time to take supper with Seth L and wife. Aunt Sarah Aunt Ann and Aunt Annie were all there, after supper Aunt Mary A came in we staid until bedtime had a nice time.
19th I have left Harford Co, went from Kinsey this morning Mollie Stewards daughters, brought me to Farm Grove, I went to see Mercy Hastler, she knew me and said she was glad to see me and I know I was glad to see her, we call on several person among them was my old sunday school teacher Sarah Gay, Sammie came down to meet me and brought me up to Pap's I was glad to see them all, [fond] (found) them well I had never seen Sammie wife before, I have been very poorly all day was taken with those queer feelings last night had a very bad spell after I got to Farm Grove, Mercy was afraid I would die, I have been poorly all day, I received a letter from Pen and the girls today and sent an answer to them this afternoon
20th Well this is Friday night and it seems like I have been away from home a long while I want to see Pen and all the children so bad, I was very poorly all day yesterday but feel better tonight, but I am not well, Pap thinks I ought to stay up here until I get well, but I know that I ought to go home soon, for I want to see them all and I have work to do
21st Saturday Night, this time last week I was at Kinsey's and now I am at Pap's I hope I will be at home by another saturday, Pap was talking to me this evening he said I had better stay awhile and maybe I will get well, he thinks that would be better than going home soon and getting sick after I got there, but I want to Pen and the children it seems like a long time since I have seen them all I went to see Adeline today Mother went with me we took supper, after we came home we had ice cream sent a letter t Lizzie and Beckie and Mercy H today, I feel better but very much disapointed I thought I would hear from Pen
22nd I went church this morning heard a good sermon, the text was Heb 6 1st there was quite a large congregation, I feel very much like being home I want to see all so bad. I went out with Pap to see his wheat field this afternoon I expect to go to church tonight
Sunday Night) It has been pleasant today I went to church had prayer meeting, Mollies girls came up and [sloped] for us Tommy, Annie and Jimmie and myself went for here
23rd I am at Mollie Cussy's tonight Annie and I came this afternoon she has gone home I am to stay all night it has been pleasant today, part of the time cloudy but no rain I was disapointed today when the mail came no letter for me how I wish I could hear from home, I would live to see them all I will be glad to get home, I feel home sick tonight
24th I am still at Mollies I expected to go to Pap's this evening but it began to rain about supper time and had rained right fast ever since, and Alf said he was agoing to keep me until morning this is the the first rain they had since I came up here, I was disapointed to when the mail came and there was not letter for me, I want to heat from home I wish I was there, I have been having a nice time but I am getting homesick
25th I came to Paps this morning from Mollie's it has been raining some today there was a pretty rainbow, I received a letter from Lena and Annie today, sent an answer to them and a letter to Pen, it is just two weeks today since I left home it seems more like a month, I expect I would go home tomorrow but Pap thinks I might stay another day I guess it will not make very much difference only I want to get home. I took pills last night I have had a pain in my side today I wonder some times if I will get well [Tammie] and Annie have gone away. Mother Pap and myself have spent a pleasant evening together Pap has just gone to bed, we will soon have to go
26th It has rained today the ground is wet I have seen some old Ladies since I have been here, I was at Church last sunday and there was one Lady that is 93 yr old and there is another one that lives close that is 94 and another very near as old, we have had a weighing time today Mother weighed 184 lb Mollie 188 Fannie 162, Annie 102 me 111, I expect to start for home tomorrow, I do hate to leave Pap but I want to get home, Pap just went out and got weighed his was 160 he says he is going back, I forgot Sim his was 144
27th It rained some today I am in Baltimore tonight, left Paps this morning, I think I never left when I was so sorry to part with him poor follow we both had a cry, he has promised to come see me this summer and I hope he will I want to see Pen and the children and I did not like to leave him for he seemed to want me to stay with him, I have had a pleasant visit and had a nice ride down on the cars was here in plenty time for my dinner, had strawberries the first I have had this spring, I went out and got some things for Pap for the store
Fridat Evening Carrie and I went out this afternoon Will Joe and I went to Riverside Park after supper, it was cool and we did not stay out long I have been feeling real well today and I am thankful
28th I am on the boat going home, I went out this morning, called on miss O'Neil found them well, I went to see Miss [Meridith], she looks bad but I think she looks then she did when I last saw her, Cassie come down to the boat with me George smith came aboard I gave him an introduction to her I have very companion lady Mrs Evans and Mrs Hurlock it is cool and has been cloudy most all day, it rained a little this morning and has rained fast this afternoon. I am home tonight and I am glad to be here found them all well, and I guess glad to see me.
29th Sunday I went to Church had no preaching, had a nice sunday school and class
30th I wrote to Pap today and went down to Rolph's Wharf after supper, saw Mrs. E Catlin it is very cool for this time of year
31st I went up to see Mrs Tudler this morning staid until after dinner it look so cloudy that we started home soon, it rained before we got here and is raining fast tonight Mr Tudler has promised me $1.00 towards the church getting the church organ, Mr. Chapman was there from Chestertown he gave me 50 cts,
