June 1887

1st I went tot see Lizzie S. yesterday she says she will live with me when her baby is old enough I got a girl today t stay a few weeks with me, I went to to church today, we are getting ready for children's day

2nd I went to see Lizzie today found her well, we went after supper we staid until 8 oclock and had to drive fast to get home without getting wet, we just got home and the horse put away when it rained fast and rained all night the roads are muddy I sent a letter to Kinsey's today

3rd I went up to Beckies today had a a pleasant time Willie came today is going back tomorrow, May came home with us and Eddie has gone to take her home

4th This has been a pleasant day I was at Church Hill this afternoon Mrs. G gave me 50 cts to help get an organ for the Union Church

5th I went to Church today Mr Asters came home with us we were talking about a new church he thinks we ought to have one and I hope we can get it

6th This has been a rainy day Ann done some of the washing but did not put them out

7th It has rained some today clothes still in the tubs Mr H was here today

8th It rained this morning but cleared off this afternoon we got our cloths dry and part of them ironed

9th this was the day to meet out at Church to practice for children's day I did not go as the horses were busy. It rained again today

10th I went up to Beckies today it was George's birthday she had some nice cake, Lizzie was there had been there serveral day I brought them home with me and Eddie took her to Chestertown after supper, Beckie had fried chicken for dinner the first I have had this season Mr and Mrs Morse were here to dinner,

11th This has been a cool day I went up to Church Hill this afternoon went to Church out to the Union when we came back they were getting ready for children's day

12th I went to church this morning, had prayer meeting and class, tonight I went to Church Hill to hear the children, as it is childrens day, the church was well filled, some could not get in and every thing went off very nice, we are to have ours next sunday

13th Well this has been a busy day as it is wash day, I went over to Chestertown this evening after May to come and help me sew

14 May is here and we began a dress for Lena

15th May and I went to Church Hill this morning bought trimmings for Lena's dress and left them in the store, I went back tonight with Pen and got them, and got Annie a hat from Miss Clough

16th this has been a busy day, I want to do all the sewing I can while May is here

17th May went home today Eddie Lena and I went with her we got two dresses made for Lena and another part done I am sleepy I must go to bed 

18 I went to church today, we are getting ready for children day, it is to be tomorrow, we trimed the church but did not practice

19th We had our children day this morning and I think they did real well, We met at the school house and marched over to the church, Mr. Asters went ahead of the boys and we ahead of the girls The small ones west first the larger ones after, Mr Asters talked real nice, he came home with use for dinner Lena Jimmie and me went up to Double Creek Church at night and took Mrs Potts, I think our children did better then theirs

20th This has been a changeable day it rained awhile and the sun shone awhile and it is not right clear yet. Pen began cutting wheat today I wrote a letter to Mollie Steward

21st This has been a right nice day our wheat is not all cut yet, Jimmie staid home to help, the rest of the little ones went to school charlie came home feeling bad, he laid on the lounge and was taken so bad that we had to send for Dr. Cooper he had a very high fever but he gave him medicine to take until after 12 oclock tonight all are in bed a sleep but me and I have been very sleepy Charlies fever is not to high as it was in the early part of the evening we are having a hard thunder gust and rain tonight

22nd This has been another changeable day the sun shines awhile and then it rained we had a hard rain this afternoon, the Dr. came to see Charlie but does not expect to come any more, for he is much better, but has medicine to take I hope he will soon be well, we had boiled Cabbage for dinner today, Charlie wants to know when he can have some to eat

23rd Pen is quite done cutting wheat it rained so much today that they had to give up doing any more until another day Charlie is much better 

24th Pen is finished cutting wheat I have just returned from Chestertown, Jimmie went with me it rained a little before we got home

25th This has been a very pleasant day, I went to Church Hill this afternoon, called on Mrs [Coksie] and Miss Annie Hurlock, Miss Mollie is not at home our dog Dump had one of his leg broken one of Mr. smith's horses kicked him, poor fellow I feel sorry for him

26th I went to Church this morning we had no preaching, but had a very nice class I had a good time reading this afternoon

27th This had been a busy day the clothes are all day and most of them folded for ironing I am sleepy good night Eddie and Lena have gone to Chestertown

28th I churned this morning spent part of the day sewing, we had an early supper, Pen and I took a ride down to rolf's Wharf, I spent a very pleasant time,

29th This has been a nice day Eddie went to Tolchester took May and Carrie, Mrs Loller was over to see me a little while today, Tommie N came while we were at supper he is going to stay all night 30th This has been another nice day, Mrs Townsend came home with the children
