July 1887

1st I have sewed most all day, had an early supper and Eddie and I west to Chestertown

2nd This has been a very warm day I went to Church Hill with Pen this afternoon

3rd I went to Church today Mr. Asters preached a splendid sermon his text was Gen 28 chapt and 12 verse we had a very nice class I guess we all felt that it was good to be there

4th Well another day has gone I staid at home all day until after supper, Pen, Carrie, Jimmie and myself went down to Rolf's Wharf Charlie and Clement went out riding with Pa in the afternoon, Lena Jimmie and Annie went a crabing in the afternoon, Eddie went to Tolchester and took Tommie Nickerson the girl went home so we were all of us away someplace today but not all at one time,

5th Pen took Carrie and I down to Rolf's this evening, went to see Mrs. Jimmie [Dunbracco] spent a very pleasant time

6th I have been poorly today, Eddie took Carrie and me over to see the Dr. Carrie staid over there, I expect her back next week

7th Pen took me up to see Beckie a little while this morning, I was poorly and we came home in time for dinner

8th We began thrashing wheat this morning but it began to rain and they had to stop we had about 21 besides our family, it has been very warm

9th This has been a damp day part of the time raining but I went to Church Hill with Pen

10th I went to Church this morning, it was not preaching sunday, but Mr. Baston talked for us, it has been warm today

11th Well this is monday we finished thrashing today, they got done before dinner, and went to Mr Tollers the has been a very pleasant day, we got our cloths washed and dryed Gussie and Carrie Van trump came to see us to a few day, Eddie brought them last night, he and Gussie have gone to take a ride tonight

12th The has been a very warm day I went to Beckies and took Gussie and Carrie and Jimmie with me, we spent a very pleasant day, this was Eddies birthday but he working all day helping Mr Toller thrash he is 19 years old may he grow up to be a good man is my sincere wish

13th this has been a very warm day, I have tried to sew but did not get much done, I went to Chestertown this evening and took Carrie over to Lizzie's, Miss Mollie and Johnie Hurlock came to see me while I was away, I would liked to have seen him

14th Last night was very warm and it has been a warm day, Gussie went down to Rolph's Wharf with Eddie on a load of grain and lost his poket book I am sorry for him I hope he will find it

15th This been another warm day I called on Miss G Smith this afternoon but she was not at home, I also went to Mrs Welch a little while, Eddie took the butter over to Chestertown for me

16th I went up to Crumpton with Pen today called on several of my friends but was glad to get home for is was so very warm they say this has been the warmest day this summer I know I felt the heat more

17th I went to church this morning Mr. Asters preached a nice sermon, it is still very warm

18th We washed to day but did not get all our cloths dry for we had some rain

19th It is much cooler tonight it rained some today and we had quite a shower last night

20th I went to Brown's Woods today, The ME Sunday school had a picnic they had a nice day for it, for it was cloudy all day I was only there a little while but I had some ice cream and cake we expect to have ours tomorrow

21st Well we were disappointed today for it rained and we could not go out until most night but we had a nice time what time we had there had plenty of ice cream and cake and lemonade there was not so many out as would have been if it had been a good day

22nd I went down to Rolph’s Wharf this morning and spent the day with Mrs. Riggins, Mrs Morse and Beckie were there and we spent a very pleasant time

23rd Well this has been a changeable day it has rained right hard several times, and is still raining tonight – Eddie is not home he went to see Joe [Leverden,] I received a letter from Mother today

24th It rained this morning but stopped before it was time for church, we went but there were only a few there we had a nice class

25th I am tired tonight we washed today

26th I called on Mrs G. Smith this evening, she was sick I did not see her, Mrs M. Catlin and Mamie and Basset were there

27th I went down to Rolf's Wharf today and spent the day with Mrs [Dunbracco] mrs Riggins cut my dress for me

28th This was the last day of school I went out there this afternoon Lena got the prize offered tot he class that she was in it is a nice book

29th I went to Chestertown this evening with mny butter, Lizzie cam here this morning to stay a few days, she went with me

30th I was busy this morning, but I have not done much this afternoon, Pen took Lizzie and I to Churchill 31st we went to Church this morning I wanted Lizzie to hear Mr Asters but he had gone to Camp Meeting and we had Mr. Baston to preach for us we went to see Mrs [Purker] this afternoon she has been right sick but is better now
